Is It Your Goal To Lose Weight Permanently?

If you want to lose weight permanently, then eat to lose weight permanently. Losing weight on restrictive plans, then going back to eating the way you were that caused weight plan just doesn’t make sense. That is the problem though with so many weight loss plans. They are not lifestyle plans that people want to stick with.

Here are some basic things you can do in your effort to eat to lose weight permanently:

Pick your carbs wisely: You are in control of which carbs you want to eat. Choosing off the list that have a lower glycemic index are generally the best way to go. The less processed your grains are the better. Whole grains are better as they have all parts of the grain. Processing removes key nutrients such as fiber, iron, and B vitamins. This is true for other foods too.

Keep protein: Protein is needed to keep muscle tissue and will help you be less hungry. Use lean meats when possible, poultry, fish and dairy. To avoid too much red meat, you can use non-meat sources too. Things like nuts, beans and soy.

Stick with healthy fats: Small amounts of fat can help you feel full and less like you’re on a diet. The better choices are those in fish, nuts and seeds. For oils, you could use olive oil or coconut oils. Or use those oils that have unsaturated fats — polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats, specifically.

Fiber is filling: Seems like a lot of folks are low on fiber. You can get fiber from vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Basically, plant foods will have fiber. Some have more than others. Top sources include artichokes, green peas, broccoli, lentils and lima beans. Raspberries take the lead for fruits.

Eat more often. What? Eating more often does not mean eat too much. Research shows if you eat about every 3 hours or 5-6 times a day, it helps to keep your blood sugar at a more even level, which keeps hunger down and energy at a better place. You just have to be sure that you are using good portion control between meals and those snacks in between.

Meal Replacements: A good meal replacement shake can help you keep calories down and nutrition up, if it is well balanced nutritional product. They are convenient and make it easier to lose weight or just get better nutrition.

Analyze your drinks. Many people drink way too many of their calories between those special coffees on their way to work, sodas, juices or alcohol. Finding alternatives could be a big help with losing weight. Add a little lemon to your water or drink black coffee. Diet drinks aren’t really a healthy alternative as the chemicals used in them can be as bad as the sugar. Tread carefully.

All these things can not only help you to eat to lose weight permanently, they can also just be a healthy way to eat permanently.
