Never Do To Lose Weight

A Few Things Never To Do To Lose Weight

For as long as I can remember, there has always been a wide range of plans to lose weight, but there are a few things that you should never do to lose weight. There are many healthy plans to lose weight, but many that can be quite harmful and not effective for encouraging lasting weight loss. Many are willing to do anything to lose weight, even if it could be detrimental to their health. Here are a few things you should never do to lose weight though.

Starve Yourself

You should never starve yourself or put yourself on an extremely low calorie diet. If your body cells do not get enough nutrition, your body cannot function at its optimal level and it can lead to illness. You may lose some weight temporarily, but you will likely lose muscle and slow your metabolism in the process, which ultimately will lead to weight gain. Only restrict calories less than 1200, if you are on a doctor supervised plan.

Using Supplements With Big Promises

Using supplements with big promises could leave you disappointed at the least, but could harm you at worse. Not to say that there aren’t helpful supplements out there, but many are risky. If you want supplement help, just be sure they are of high quality and speak with your doctor first.

Detox or Cleanses

Cleanses can help you lose weight by getting rid of water and stool, but in the process, it can cause electrolyte changes and even dehydration. It can cause nutritional imbalances. At times, cleanses can be recommended for health reasons, but these should be directed by your physician.

A healthier way to detoxify might be to drink plenty of water, eat high fiber foods and nutritionally balanced diet. It may take longer, but is a healthier approach.

Purging includes chewing foods, but not swallowing them, making yourself vomit or using laxatives all the time for the purpose of losing weight. They all can cause health problems. It can also contribute to developing an unhealthy habit and eventually a full blown eating disorder. Some forms of purging can lead to cancers and even death.

Excess Exercise

A little exercise is good, right, so excess exercise is better, wrong. Excess exercise can cause injury and imbalances in your body.

The American Heart Association recommends getting at least 30 minutes of moderately intense cardio exercise 5 days a week, or 20 minutes of vigorously intense cardio exercise 3 days a week, and strength-training exercises that work all the major muscle groups two to three times a week. If you can enjoy your exercise plan, you are more likely to stick with it and it will be healthier in the long haul.

Using Drugs

Unless your drugs are prescribed by a physician, using drugs to lose weight is a dangerous game. Even drugs that are prescriptions should not be taken lightly. The risks are many that include destruction of your life in a variety of ways.

Believe it or not, some people will start smoking just to lose weight. For any weight you might lose, you put your health and life at risk. It is not a healthy way to lose weight. And even if you are able to stop smoking after you have lost some weight, it will likely all come back.

The Best Weight Plan

The best weight plan is to find a plan that fits your lifestyle. It has to give you the proper nutrition so your health is not compromised. Including some light to moderate exercise is good for your overall health and can help accelerate weight loss while increasing your metabolism. The best weight plan includes a lifestyle plan more than a fad diet.
