Fasting To Lose Weight

Have You Considered Fasting To Lose Weight?

As unhealthy as it is, many still consider fasting to lose weight. Unless your doctor has recommended this, it is generally not advisable according to experts. You might lose weight in the short term, but it is not a long-term solution. It will often cause your body to go into “starvation mode,” which will slow your metabolism and make it really difficult to keep weight from just coming back. Your body is designed to keep you alive. If it is not getting the nutrients it needs, it will slow your metabolism in an effort to conserve what nutrients it has for the long haul in case it doesn’t get anymore food. This slows everything down and is not healthy.

Of course, fasting to lose weight may not include a total fast. There are those fasts that includes all foods, but there are those that might be every other day or fasts that include everything except a few foods. If you do choose to do some type of fast, it is recommended that you run that by your physician first. If you have health problems, you should consider all pros and cons before choosing a program of fasting to lose weight.
The 2 Week Diet
If are planning to be doing some fasting to lose weight, it is likely that you will often feel hungry and grumpy, especially the first few days. Your bowels may protest causing constipation or for some, even diarrhea. Your energy level will likely be low, so if you have to drive, please be extra careful. It would be recommended that you don’t drive. Make sure you are getting plenty of water and you may want to supplement with a good multivitamin. If you have medical conditions or medications you take, double check with your doctor on whether these need to be adjusted.

It’s generally a better idea to have an eating plan that you can stick to over time and fits into your lifestyle than to use fasting to lose weight.
